Rally with us: Let Manchin know West Virginia is paying attention!
In case you missed it, Senator Manchin revealed over the weekend that he is currently a NO on the Build Back Better Act. This is devastating news for West Virginians - this bill is a tremendous opportunity for the Mountain State. The sweeping legislation will provide tax credits to address the climate crisis; extend child tax credits; provide for reductions in health care costs for seniors; provide assistance for child care; and many other provisions to help West Virginians throughout the state. Remembering Frank Young
The environmental community in West Virginia lost a great advocate, friend, and fighter two weeks ago on December 2, 2021. Frank Young was a founding member of the West Virginia Environmental Council, which was created to advocate for strong environmental policies at the Legislature. His journey as an environmental advocate began at a young age when he saw what the coal companies were doing to the area where he grew up. He was committed to protecting and preserving the environment and fought hard to help progressive legislation pass at the Legislature.  More

In August, Governor Justice appointed the former and current heads of the Coal Association to prominent positions: to the Public Service Commission (PSC) and Public Energy Authority (PEA). The PSC regulates how our electric utilities work, among other things, and the PEA is a formerly-defunct body that has the power to use public money to buy energy infrastructure, including power plants.
