WVEC is passing on this action alert from Energy Efficient WV
Ask House Energy Committee to pass the LEEP Act!
HB 2534, the Local Energy Efficiency Partnership (LEEP) Act is in the House Energy Committee and must be passed by both the House Energy and Finance Committees before it can be voted on by the full House. Time is running out to get the bill passed and over to the Senate.
Please contact members of the House Energy Committee and Chair Bill Anderson (R-Wood) now and urge them to support HB 2534.
Energy efficiency is good for our economy by creating jobs, improving our buildings, and making it easier for our businesses and families to stay in West Virginia. Energy efficiency jobs pay for themselves through utility savings.
The LEEP Act is the most important energy efficiency bill in the state legislature. LEEP is a funding mechanism that empowers commercial building owners to make their buildings more efficient and pay for the upgrades on their tax ticket. The upgrades are funded by privately held bonds or other financing backed by the energy savings, so no county or state revenue is involved.
Contact the members of the House Energy Committee and your delegate(s) TODAY and urge their support for HB 2534!
Some pointers for contacting legislators:
1.) Be polite, professional, and respectful. Politicians are people, too.
Thank you for taking action to support the LEEP Act! #WVneedsEE
