~ JOIN THE BIG BIG BIG PARTY FOR CLEAN WATER ~

AT THE CAPITOL ~ SATURDAY, MARCH 8 AT 11 AM
FOOD ~ MUSIC ~ SPEAKERS ~ SOLIDARITY ~ ACTION
(note: time was changed from noon to 11 am)

The January 9th Elk River chemical spill upended the lives of 300,000 West Virginians. And, it brought home the fact that, for decades, thousands have been suffering a similar fate in the coalfields and the gas fields.

This Saturday, the last day of the legislative session, is your chance to be a part of the movement to correct this travesty. Please come to the WV Capitol to show your support for clean water and send the biggest message ever to our state’s leaders that Clean Water Is Not Optional. It is an achievable, vital and endurable necessity! Legislators need to understand, beyond any doubt, beyond any debate, that there is no compromise on this issue. There will be folks who can show you to your legislators’ offices.

Bring a friend or a carload of friends to this event. To view the invitation click here: http://bit.ly/1dyNmj7

SB 373: A strong water protection bill (SB 373) passed the House this week and is now in the Senate. An agreement on the bill must be reached by midnight Saturday for the legislation to go to the Governor to sign. So, it’s down to the wire.

If you can’t make it there (we really hope you can), here’s action you can take today.

Contact the House Speaker, Senate President, and your legislators . Tell them:
1. Do not support any weakening of SB 373.
2. Reinstate reasonable fees to make new water protection programs that are funded by industries and not taxpayers.
3. Remove provisions that prevent us from knowing what chemicals are near our drinking water.
We must make all of our voices heard at this strategic point.

Speaker Tim Miley: tim.miley@wvhouse.gov
Phone: (304) 340-3210.

President Jeff Kessler: jeff.kessler@wvsenate.gov
Phone: (304) 357-7801

Contact your very own delegates and senators. Phone calls carry more weight than emails. If you don’t know who they are, go to http://openstates.org/
