E-day Info

Update, March 5, 5 pm:

Hello everyone,

I am writing to let you know that in light of the capacity concerns at the Capitol that were reached today, and the expectation of just as many or more coming out tomorrow, tabling for Eday has been cancelled.
While we have reserved space for our registrants, we cannot be sure that you will be able to park in the vicinity, enter the Capitol, or even have a platform to share information that meets any of your reasonable expectations.
While our tabling and speaking activities at the Capitol are being cancelled, we strongly encourage you to join us at 5 pm just down the street at the Empty Glass for an end of session pre-celebration!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any concerns or questions.

E-day! is Environmental Day at the Capitol is a WV Environmental Council tradition. This is our day to occupy, table, educate, stimulate, lobby and join folks from all over the state in the main hall of the Capitol. Don’t let this opportunity slip away. It’s time to make this legislature know what we are after. Let’s make a good showing, eh?  Oh, yeah, then at 4:30 p.m. come unwind at a celebratory GREEN JAM complete with a delicious buffet, live music and good friends at the Empty Glass right around the corner. Get info and make your reservations for E-day! with Keena Mullins at keenamullins@wvecouncil.org

This year we would like to see more faces than ever before, and have many conservation organizations represented.

In 2018, we have prioritized citizen lobbying like never before. When you come to Charleston in person to deliver your message to protect the environment in West Virginia, you are using your most powerful tool as a citizen in a democracy–the promise of your vote. If you have been thinking about joining our efforts this session but haven’t gotten on board, E-day! is the perfect opportunity to jump in.

While prepping for the day, be sure to wear green! We want to see as much green as possible.

Registration and setup for organizations tabling at the event will be held from 8-9am. Please come into the rotunda where you will find Ecouncil’s table and registration information!

For folks who plan to spend the earlier part of the day with our lobbyists, you’ll meet Crystal Good at this location at 9 am for prep.

Those who are lobbying will do so from 9am-11am, and we will have tables open for browsing from 9am-1130am in the upper level.

At 1130am we will kick off our presentation portion of the day. You can expect to hear from Matt Kearns of West Virginians for Public Lands about how we launched and succeeded the SOSparks campaign to prevent logging in our state forests, from Courtney Boyd of Food and Farm coalition about the growing importance of agriculture in West Virginia, our fabulous lobby team- Karan Ireland and Crystal Good, and many more.

From 1230pm to 3pm, we’ve reserved more time so that everyone gets to explore presentations by groups and organizations being represented for the day.

Keep your eye out through the day for a very special guest- CAPTAIN PLANET!!

Don’t forget to top off the day of events by popping over to the Empty Glass where at 430pm, we will be serving a buffet, networking, and enjoying an evening of live music!!

We hope this is the best Eday yet, and all are welcome to join us in our effort to support conservation efforts around the state and celebrate the successes we’ve pulled together this session. Can’t wait to see you there.

  1. Is it too late to be a vendor?

    1. Not too late, though E-Day is not really a vending event – contract Keena Mullins: keenamullins@wvecouncil.org and/or fill out this google form.
