This week, we won’t be highlighting a member organization, but one of our At-Large Board Members. Morgan King is not only an at-large board member, but WVEC’s Vice President. King is the Climate and Energy Manager for West Virginia Citizen Action Group, working on petrochemicals, hydrogen CCUS, and community air monitoring. She’s also working closely with other environmentalists around the state to combat the influx of hyperscale data center development.
Previously, she worked on climate issues in the state with the Climate Reality Project and the West Virginia Rivers Coalition. During her academic tenure, she focused on clean water and energy access. She earned a master’s degree in environmental systems engineering from University College London and a master’s in public policy from the University of Cambridge. She has a degree in civil engineering from West Virginia University. She was also selected for the carbon removal justice fellowship hosted by American University and the National Wildlife Federation, which centers on environmental justice in carbon removal policy.
Morgan is a Fulbright and Marshall scholar, opportunities that allowed her to live in Spain and England for three years after college. In Madrid, she introduced the Sustainable Development Goals to high schoolers. In her hometown of Charleston, she continues to work towards a greener future for all.
