The West Virginia Environmental Council invites the creative community in our state to create a dynamic new logo for our organization.
The winning entry will be awarded $100.
Background:
WVEC was formed in 1989 when it became apparent to many of the state’s environmental groups that a central umbrella council was needed to network the ideas and actions of folks in all the far flung corners of the Mountain State. Now, over 25 years later, WVEC has become a leading advocacy group at the Legislature working with almost forty environmental groups statewide.
Guidelines: Simplicity. It has been suggested that size verses complexity is important in a website logo, meaning the logo should be fairly simple – something that is so complex that it needs to be large would not be a good logo for a modern website that has to look good on mobile phones. The letters WVEC could be incorporated into the design or can be displayed separately. Overall, the design needs to be more of a symbol than having the WVEC letters so prominent. A clean, modern graphic…maybe a symbol, rather than simply a river, mountain, sun theme. Maybe one color.
Entry Fee: $5.00 per person. Maximum 3 entries. Winner’s entry fee will be refunded. Pay at https://wvecouncil.org/join/ making note that it’s a “Logo Contest Fee”.
Or you may mail a check made payable to WV Environmental Council to 230 Griffith Run, Spencer, WV 25276. The winning entry will become the property of WVEC.
Submissions: Email your art to wyro@appalight.com No hard copies, please.
Deadline: COB January 20, 2017
Helpful hints: In the interest of avoiding similarities to the logos of any of our member groups, please scope out these sites beforehand.
We thank you for your ideas and efforts. Good luck.
