WVEC Working Year-Round to Advance Environmental Policy – Join a Working Group!

By Kasey Russell, WVEC Lobbyist

The West Virginia Environmental Council (WVEC) is not just a presence during the Legislative Session — we’re working all year to protect West Virginia’s air, water, and public lands. Our team is committed to staying engaged during Legislative Interims, ensuring we’re prepared and effective well before the gavel drops each January.

We need your help!  And West Virginia legislators need to hear from their West Virginia constituents.

We invite you to join WVEC’s year-round working groups to tackle key environmental priorities and shape proactive, community-driven policy solutions. These groups are open to anyone who wants to get involved, share their experiences or offer their expertise, and have a passion for protecting our state.

WVEC Working Groups Include:

  •   Air Quality (with a focus on community air monitoring)
  •   River Access / Statewide River Trail System
  •   Flood Resiliency
  •   Gas Wells (plugging, abandoned wells, and emerging issues)
  •   Data Centers
  •   Clean Energy (solar, wind, etc.)
  •   Water Quality (drinking water, forever chemicals, and water rules)

Whether you’re a concerned resident, seasoned advocate, or someone just beginning to get involved, we invite you to join us. Together, we can make sure environmental protection is not just reactive — it’s forward-thinking, strategic, year-round—and reflects the values and needs of West Virginians.

Interested in joining a working group? Fill out our interest form here or reach out to WVEC today at wvecevents@gmail.com, and we’ll connect you with the group that best fits your interests.
