Your help and support are needed!
The Berkeley County Solid Waste Authority is holding a public hearing on June
15 to consider a request from Waste Management to increase its tonnage limit at
the LCS Services Landfill. Increasing the tonnage would change LCS to a Class A
landfill. Class A landfills are allowed to take in 10,000 to 30,000 tons per
month. This change would mean more truck traffic, more litter and more odor
for residents living near the landfill.
The Berkeley County Solid Waste Authority has issued a draft decision to deny
this tonnage increase and is now accepting public comment leading up to the
public hearing. Its tentative conclusion is that it is more fair to have another
facility developed at another location than having the citizens of one community
bear the full impact of the growing waste stream of three West Virginia
counties, one Maryland county and one Virginia county.

Attn: Siting Plan
Dear Solid Waste Authority,
I wish to express my support for maintaining the LCS Services Landfill as a
Class B landfill with the 9,999 tons per month and 500 tons per day. I wish to
express my appreciation and support to the solid waste authority for denying
Class A status to the facility.
Sincerely,
