URGENT ACTION NEEDED THIS WEEKEND
TOPIC: All-Terrain Vehicle Legislation Headed Down Wrong Road
The Senate decided Friday to lay over the ATV bill (HB 4022) until Monday. This weekend you need to call your Senators and urge them to keep ATV's off paved roads -- not limit them, but make them illegal on ALL paved roads (except for a modest exemption for farm and commercial use.) And keep the helmet requirement for all children at all times in all places.
We are joined in this position by the state medical association, the social workers, ATV manufacturers and lots of groups. Keeping the machines off paved roads will not only save lives, it will also protect public lands with state roads running through them.
The phone number for the Senators' offices is 1-877-565-3447. To learn your Senator's capitol number go to the web site
www.legis.state.wv.us and get to the Senate page. They do have answering machines.
After you call, please urge others to call their Senators also.
For more information contact Conni Gratop Lewis at either connigl@aol.com or (304) 543-5811.
