West Virginia’s legislative session kicked off on January 10, setting the stage for a series of events! Citizens are gathering to advocate for critical environmental policies:

Save Our Solar Rally, Saturday, Jan. 20 at 2 pm: Solar energy is under threat in West Virginia. But folks across the state are speaking out to protect it, and you can be one of them. On January 20 at 2 pm, join us at the State Capitol to support solar. Let’s rally together to show the WV Public Service Commission (and legislators!) that West Virginians won’t let their energy rights be taken away. Learn more and RSVP now so we know we can count on you. When you RSVP, you can also sign up for our free transportation options from Morgantown, Huntington, and Shepherdstown!

Helping Hour at The Empty Glass, Thursday, Jan. 25 at 7 pm: Join WVEC for an evening of music and community engagement as Swingstein and Robin take the stage at The Empty Glass, 410 Elizabeth St, in Charleston. All tips will be generously donated to the WVEC! Share our event with family and friends: bit.ly/HelpingHourJan25

Black Policy Day at the State Capitol, Wednesday, Feb. 7: The Black Voter Impact Initiative and friends invite you to Black Policy Day at the State Capitol! Black Policy Day provides a platform for historically oppressed and ignored Black individuals to have their voices heard. All are welcomed to the Capitol to engage with their state leaders and discuss the policies that most impact Black and minority communities. Learn more and register at blackpolicydaywv.org.

Environmental Day at the State Capitol, Tuesday, Feb. 13: You’re invited to Environmental Day (E-Day) at the State Capitol! E-Day is a chance to see the legislature at work, visit and tour the Capitol, meet environmental groups and advocate for WVEC’s legislative priorities. Participation is free! Learn more and register here. Please save the date for an online Advocacy 101 Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, January 16, to prepare you for E-Day. Please register for the webinar here.

We hope to see you at one or more of these events!

Best,
