Corridor H Visual Assessment Training at Parson’s Community Center, Sunday, March 24 at 1 pm: Join West Virginia Rivers Coalition and Friends of the Cheat to learn how to visually monitor highway construction and help minimize impacts to our water resources! Webinar Series: Community Air Monitoring Fundamentals, April 2024: Community air quality monitoring consists of local efforts to measure and understand what is in the air a community breathes in. This training, geared toward non-experts, is for anyone interested in understanding the basics of community air quality monitoring. This series offers five sessions covering basic air quality concepts, regulatory aspects, device overview, project development steps, objective setting, data management, equipment selection, Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) creation, device installation, operation, data analysis, and communication of air monitoring results. The Cheat River Festival in Albright, WV, May 3 and May 4: Cheat Fest is a vibrant celebration of the Cheat River watershed’s revival and serves as Friends of the Cheat‘s key fundraiser, aiding their watershed initiatives and operational expenses. Rain or shine, the festival offers various activities, including live music, an art market, food vendors, and opportunities to support multiple nonprofits that are aligned with FOC’s mission.
