BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. —Nature enthusiasts are invited to help sow wildflower seeds at Beech Fork State Park Saturday, April 21, during a hike on the Overlook Trail with Master Naturalist Fred Tackett.
The hike, which is part of the park’s planned wildflower meadows enhancement plan, will start at the trailhead at 1 p.m. The Overlook Trail leads to a pleasing overlook of the park headquarters and recreation area. During the hike, Tackett will tell stories about the area and talk about wildflower species that grow in the area and the insects they support. The hike will last about an hour.
Beech Fork State Park offers some of the best recreational opportunities in West Virginia’s southwestern region. Visitors to this 3,144-acre park can hike in the hills, watch birds, fish or take a boat out on Beech Fork Lake. Located 12 miles south of Huntington and Barboursville, Beech Fork State Park is the perfect getaway for visitors from neighboring states and cities. Visit www.wvstateparks.com or call 304-528-5794 for more information about Beech Fork State Park.
