Our friends and neighbors in southern West Virginia continue to struggle to clean up and recover from recent flooding. The task and the need for assistance to rebuild their lives, homes and communities are overwhelming. West Virginia Rivers Coalition members have been in the field supporting flood relief efforts and report that the National Guard has pulled out of impacted areas, and other support, such as shelters and distribution centers, is beginning to close.
We urge WVEC members and supporters to contact their legislators to ask them to support clean up and recovery efforts from the recent floods and to support HB 3502, which would invest $250 million in the Flood Resiliency Trust Fund to help West Virginia prepare for the next flood. Please see this important Call to Action from the WV Rivers Coalition.
Your financial donations continue to be necessary. Check out these vetted resources for ways you can provide support and help get basic necessities and other supplies to those in the affected communities here.
