Today marks the 45th day of the 2025 Legislative Session, and we’re officially in the home stretch. With Crossover Day approaching Wednesday, April 2, bills must pass their house of origin soon to stay alive.

It’s hard to believe, but next Friday, we will have our final newsletter for the session. With many harmful bills still moving, please stay tuned for urgent action alerts—we’ll keep you informed and ready to take action when it matters most.

This week’s Weekly Legislative Round-Up covers a wave of deceptively named energy bills that claim to reduce costs and create jobs but, in reality, subsidize the coal industry and fuel energy-guzzling data centers. Delegate Evan Hansen (D, Monongalia) introduced a bill to cap electric rates but it failed to gain House support.

We’re also sharing an article and action alert about the continued struggles facing flood-impacted communities in southern West Virginia and how you can help. We want to emphasize the ongoing consequences of climate inaction and highlight  a bill to help communities prevent and prepare for future flooding.

We encourage everyone to keep an eye on the public hearing issue which impacts West Virginians’ access to the legislative process and ability to voice their opinions and concerns. Thanks to Mountain State Spotlight for investigating this issue and publishing the article: “They don’t want to hear what people have to say: How West Virginia’s Republican supermajority has limited public input”

Looking ahead, please save the date for our Annual Meeting on September 20—we’re excited to bring our community together again. Finally, thank everyone who made this year’s E-Day a success! We’re proud to celebrate our awardees (bios included below) and sincerely thank our planning team for their hard work and dedication.

Thank you for being part of this movement. Every voice matters. Please consider donating to support our lobby team or updating your membership today!
