The West Virginia Environmental Council and the West Virginia Sierra Club have partnered to launch an energy campaign. We are focused on developing grassroots support for legislation that addresses the issues of unplugged wells, underbonding of reclamation sites, and the pending bankruptcy of the Special Reclamation Fund. The goal of this campaign is to help build momentum around these issues now before we head into the 2023 legislative session.
We are organizing a volunteer base to help write op-eds and attend in-district meetings with legislators. If you or anyone you know would be interested in either writing an article or attending a meeting, please reach out to luciavalentine10@gmail.com. We can help coordinate a meeting and provide help with drafting an op-ed or letter to the editor. It is important for legislators to hear from their constituents about these issues before we head into the 2023 legislative session so that we can start creating momentum now.
Please reference our Social Media Toolkit for talking points for potential OPEDs/LTEs. Please also help amplify this work on social media!
