E-Day!

What a beautiful day for some civic action!

Thursday, was our 30th annual E-Day at the State Capitol. Amongst citizens who came to advocate for clean air, clean energy, and clean water there were multiple organizations that showed up in force! Organizations present were not limited to: WV Highlands Conservancy, WV Rivers, Kanawha Forest Coalition, OVEC–Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition, Citizens Climate Lobby, Energy Efficient WV, Friends of Blackwater, WV Chapter Sierra Club, WV Citizen Action Group, and the E-Council. These groups helped distribute literature on the issues facing West Virginians, and how we can support the solutions to a more sustainable future. These solutions include the MOJO Act (HB2589) and PPA legislation that is now in the House and Senate (HB2911 and SB409).

Additionally, it was great to see my friends, Sophia Spangler and Dr. James Kotcon, from the West Virginia Sierra Student Coalition who met with legislators, provided expertise on policy, and spent some time at our Green Jam on E-Day evening!

The Green Jam was an environmental get together at the Empty Glass, There we had food and music from various artists! It was a great time, and thank you to everyone who came out to support our cause!

So do not forget to call or email Chairman Butler (House Technology and Infrastructure Committee) and call or email Chairman Randy Smith (Senate Energy, Industry, and Mining) to put these bills up for a vote in their committees!
