During the October Legislative interims, the WV Surface Owners’ Rights Organization (WVSORO), along with the WV Rivers Coalition and the WV Environmental Council, organized an educational hike in the Kanawha State Forest near the state's capitol. Abandoned oil and gas infrastructure is prolific throughout the state. More

This agreement compromised on a dirty deal that fast-tracks the approval of the Mountain Valley Pipeline without further public participation or judicial review. More

The State Park system is currently considering proposals to bring mega RV parks and private club facilities to Cacapon Resort State Park. These plans would bring 50 to 350 RV slots to mountainsides in the Park and will create high-end amenities not accessible to regular park visitors. More

Urgent! Tell Your Delegate to Vote ‘Yes’ on Floor Amendment to SB 468
The House of Delegates are considering the amended SB 468 that may open the door for off-road vehicles on state public lands. There is a floor amendment that will prohibit any new motorized ATV or off-road vehicle trail in our state parks, forests, and rail trails. The full House of Delegates will vote on this amendment tomorrow March 4. More

West Virginia is once again at the center of debate in Congress. Yesterday, legislation was released that changes how energy projects are handled by federal agencies and requires the immediate approval of construction of the Mountain Valley Pipeline with no judicial review as part of a spending bill that Congress must pass by September 30, or the federal government will shut down. More

WV Rivers launched the West Virginia Climate Pledge to increase awareness of climate change and grow a larger base of support for climate action in our state. Anyone that takes the pledge will receive a free sticker with artwork (attached) designed by Nichole Westfall to commemorate their commitment to climate action in West Virginia and beyond. More
