Thanks to energetic work on the part of several hundred people around the state, the efforts to quickly repeal the Alternative and Renewable Energy Portfolio Standards Act have taken a positive turn. Now it is your chance to weigh in and save net metering, which is the section of the bill that is most valuable. Committee substitutes for the wholesale repeal have been proposed in both houses. So:Please call or email members of the House Judiciary Committee to thank them for the committee substitute for House Bill 2001, which is under consideration at this time.  Ask the members to support the substitute which repeals all of the Alternative and Renewable Energy Portfolio Standards Act, except for net metering.  This is good news.  Do so this weekend as the committee resumes work Monday morning at 8:30 am.  Yes, 8:30am.   They spent 2 ½ hours on the bill Friday afternoon. When you have done that, call or email the members of the Senate Energy, Industry and Mining Committee to thank them for authorizing a committee substitute to Senate Bill 1, which is the twin to 2001.  That happened on Wednesday, the first day of the session.

The House Judiciary committee roster can be found at: legis.state.wv.us/committees/house/HouseCommittee.cfm?chart=jud   As of Friday evening, their Capitol office phone numbers are not listed.

The Senate Energy, Industry and Mining committee roster is at: legis.state.wv.us/committees/senate/SenateCommittee.cfm?chart=jud

Thanks.
