Federal Government to hold Public Hearing in Kanawha Valley to Probe Bayer Chemical Plant Explosion

On April 23rd from 6:30-8:30pm at the WVSU Student Union, Rm. 103,  I-64, exit #50 (follow signs),
The U.S. Chemical Safety Board will be holding a Public Hearing to release the preliminary results of their investigation into the August 28th explosion at the Bayer CropScience facility in Institute that killed two long-time union plant workers.  This incident is being scrutinized nationally because of the cloak of secrecy under which Bayer has operated, quoting national security laws to blanket the public's right to know about the chemical dangers that exist in our backyard.  People Concerned About MIC (PCMIC) has been fighting this fight for over 25 years and we need your help to show these folks that we want justice!  The Institute site is the only one in the country that still stores quantities more than 5 times the amount of methyl isocyacate (MIC), the deadly chemical that caused hundreds of thousand deaths and injuries in Bhopal, India.   PLEASE gather everyone you know and come down to this meeting!   Public comment will be allowed at this hearing, so prepare your comments (2-3 minutes total).  If you can't make it, please send your comments directly to:
