WVEC 2008 Fall Gathering

West Virginia Environmental Council (WVEC) is putting out a call for all members to come to the Fall Gathering and join in the planning for the next legislative battles.  The membership needs to step up and get the energy flowing for a renewed campaign to protect our environment.

Date:  November 7-9 (Friday evening through noon on Sunday.)

Place: Camp Mad Anthony Wayne, near Huntington….directions below.  Bunk in the lodge, reserve a cabin, or tent camping available.  Free parking.

Directions:  From I 64 – take exit 6 (for WV 52 - West Huntington / Ironton Ohio).  Merge onto US 52.  Take Madison Ave. exit.  Turn left at Madison Ave. and continue on Piedmont Road 1.1 miles.  Turn left at Spring Valley Drive.  Turn left to stay on Spring Valley Drive.  Camp “Mad Anthony” Wayne will be on left 2.9 miles.  2125 Spring Valley Drive.

Registration Cost: $20 Adult / $15 Student / Children 12 and under free.  Includes all workshops, panel discussions, outings, activities all weekend.

On Site Lodging:  Bunk Bed in main Lodge - $ 6 per night.  Cabin reservations:  $30 per night (each sleeps 4).  Tent camping $5 per tent all weekend.  Reservations based on first come, first serve basis.  Unlimited camping available.

Meals:  Breakfasts for Saturday and Sunday - $5 each.  Lunch & Dinner Saturday will be Pot Luck (bring a dish or two to share!)  Snacks and extra drinks will be provided by the WV Environmental Council. 

Silent Auction:  WVEC will once again sponsor a silent auction benefit with proceeds going to support the organization.  Please bring items to participate and help us raise much needed funds.  This auction is lots of fun, and you can expect to out-bid your friends on everything from live plants & books to gift certificates for meals & vacations.  Bidding begins Friday and continues until Saturday night.

Schedule:  No early registration required … just come when you can anytime after 3 on Friday afternoon.

  • Breakfast from 7 AM – 8:30 AM Sat. and Sun.
  • Keynote Panel: “Labor and Environment; Green Jobs and A Just Transition”.
  • Silent Auction ends on Sat. night.  PLEASE bring items to put into the auction! And prepare to give donations to WVEC.
  • “Enviro Dance” on Saturday night with live music and refreshments …. Great line up to be announced!
  • WVEC Board meeting will be Sunday morning, 9 AM till noon.

    What to bring:  Pot Luck contributions, Bed Linens, Flash light, anything to camp out and any items for the Auction.  Much Fun will had by all!!!!
